EXPERIENCES

In winemaking, you only get one try per year. The need to learn more, and faster, led Luís Louro and Inês Capão to challenge each other in 2015, after over a decade working as a team. Each had to create a wine independently. Plot, soil type, varieties, vinification, and ageing are the available tools. When successful, the wines are bottled and released.
LOU from LOUro, CA from CApão.

TERRITORY

Wines that express, in pure form, the origin — whether it be the grape variety or the specific plot.

A great wine rarely happens by chance — it starts with the best grapes. At Adega Monte Branco, every vineyard plot is unique and managed individually to maximize its full potential.

The choice of varieties and rootstocks is based on soil type and sun exposure. There’s a constant goal of extending the vine cycle — delaying the final ripening stage beyond the hottest period, which naturally leads to more balanced grapes and wines with greater natural acidity and balance.

  • Typical of Carcavelos wines, despite referring to its presence in Alentejo 100 years ago. Very complex mineral aromas. Adds complexity and character to the wines.

  • Typical Douro grape variety, with a long cycle and slow maturation, adapted to hot climates. Produces wines with a good floral and balanced character.

  • The most widely planted white grape variety in Alentejo. It produces aromas of stone fruits and wines with a strong identity.
